Our story
Createdwith purpose.
I've always loved the idea of seeing something in my mind and bringing it to life with my hands.

A creative calling
The hands I was given.
God gave me a creative mind and hands to make things. I want to use them to create custom heirloom pieces that last a lifetime, and that tell stories in a home for years to come.
That is the whole of it. The faith is not a slogan on the work; it is the reason the work is done carefully.

The beauty of wood
Every grain has a story.
Different woods have different grains, colours, smells and textures. Walnut does not behave like maple. A knot is not a defect; it is a record of a branch.
The work is finding those characteristics and combining them into something that could not have been made from any other board.

From overlooked to beautiful
Beauty where others might not look.
Some of the best wood on the bench was headed for a burn pile. There is a particular joy in taking a piece that might otherwise be discarded and giving it a life as something someone treasures.

Outlasting the maker
Long after my hands have finished.
I want to make pieces that will continue telling stories long after they leave my workshop, and long after I'm gone.
An object that is built to outlast its maker changes how you build it. Joints are chosen for decades, not for the first year. Nothing is made to be replaced.

Repair, don't discard
Made to be cared for.
I would rather repair something I made than see it thrown away. A scratch can be sanded, a finish can be refreshed, a hinge can be replaced.
That belief is written into our Lifetime Promise.

A personal note
A calling, not just a craft.
Pastor & Grain is where my faith, my work and my love for wood come together. It's a way to steward the creativity I've been given, to serve others, and to make objects that bring a little more thought into the everyday.
Thanks for being part of the story.
